When Deerns reached out to explore how their employees could contribute through a practical volunteer initiative, our organization was happy to help them find a meaningful match. As part of our role in connecting community partners with local impact opportunities, we organized a volunteer day at De Heeg Children’s Farm, one of the places where our own volunteers regularly participate.
On October 15th, approximately 25 employees from the engineering firm traded their desks for shovels. They helped lay a new path, repair the entrance sign, and spruce up the gardens and common areas. With a mix of teamwork, good humor, and impressive efficiency, the group made a visible difference on the farm in just a few hours.
The children’s farm director admitted she was surprised by the volunteers’ pace. “I had to quickly think of extra tasks for them!” she laughed. “They had everything on my list done before coffee break!”

For the team at De Heeg Children’s Farm, the improvements mean better accessibility for visitors and a brighter, more inviting environment for families and school groups. For the volunteers, it was a refreshing change of pace and a chance to see their impact firsthand.
👉 Serve the City coordinates such collaborations and connects companies that want to take their social responsibility seriously with organizations that can benefit from their time, skills, and resources. This event is a clear example of how thoughtful coordination can translate goodwill into meaningful action.
🙏 We sincerely thank Deerns for their contribution and the team at De Heeg Children’s Farm for their hospitality. Together, we cultivate not only greener spaces but also stronger connections between people, professions, and the community.
